Master's Degree Programs in Materials Science and Engineering in Europe

Joint European Master Programme in Advanced Materials Science and Engineering (AMASE) - Universitaet des Saarlandes, Germany - Co-ordinator

The AMASE master's programme is offered by six European universities:

  • Universitaet des Saarlandes (Germany)
  • Lulea Tekniska Universitet (Sweden)
  • Universite de Lorraine (France)
  • Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (Spain)
  • Montanuniversitaet Leoben (Austria)
  • Universita degli Studi di Padova (Italy)
Students attend courses at two of the universities in the Consortium. The language of instruction is English in Lulea, Leoben and Padua, German in Saarbrucken, Spanish in Barcelona and French in Nancy. The programme takes two years, including six months of working on a master's thesis.

The aim of the master programme is to provide:
  • A well-integrated language and intercultural experience
  • Education in close relation to the research activities of the six consortium members
  • Education in advanced materials, to enhance the innovation potential of the students
  • Preparation of students for life-long learning in different cultures and work systems
At the end of the course, the students obtain a double Master's Degree awarded by the two universities where they studied.

Admission requirements are a Bachelor of Science or similar degree in the field of Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or related disciplines.

The application period for the AMASE Master's programme has already begun.
