Siberian State Medical University

Siberian State Medical University (SSMU) is one of the oldest and most reputable medical universities in Russia. It was founded as Tomsk Emperor's University in 1888 and was the first university in the Asian part of Russia.

Nowadays Siberian State Medical University is a big research and education complex which includes 6 faculties, 2 research institutes, Central Research Laboratory, 9 research and education centers, interdisciplinary academic and research laboratories, multidisciplinary clinics for 830 beds, 3 anatomical theatres housing unique collections and the biggest in the region scientific and medical library.

According to the rating of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, SSMU has been in top 5 of the leading medical universities of Russia for many years. Year over year the number of students is growing steadily; they come to study in SSMU from other regions of Russia, CIS and far abroad countries.

The university faculty includes 650 Doctors and Candidates of science as well as 8 members of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. More than 50 workers of the University have such honorary degrees as “Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation”, “Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation”, “Honored Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation” etc.
