The Economics and Finance master’s programme is a consecutive course of studies which expands upon your undergraduate foundation of economics and finance studies. It is designed to consolidate your existing expertise and enhance your knowledge with advanced specialist qualifications in these fields.
The programme will impart to you cutting-edge methods, applications and models found in economics, corporate finance, and the analysis of international financial markets.
Through experiments in game theory, behavioral economics and finance, as well as empirical market analysis, you will develop and learn how to employ a sophisticated research methodology. The curriculum explores not only financial issues, but also important economy-wide phenomena.
The general aim is to enable students to make the linkages between several economic theories and the decision-making process. You will examine, among other things, the factors that impact competition among firms on the financial and overall goods markets.
The curriculum highlights the complex relationships between governments, businesses and consumers while maintaining a value-oriented and ethics-based approach.
Upon completion of your studies, you will be able to effectively evaluate economic issues in industrial and financial markets on both the national and international scale.
The master’s degree programme is taught entirely in English, allowing you to gain fluency and confidence in the advanced terminology and nomenclature within your field of study. Graduates are also qualified to pursue further specialization as applied researchers and are eligible for related PhD programmes in Germany and abroad.
To be eligible for our program, applicants are required to hold a Bachelor’s degree in
- a. economics or business sciences;
- b. business mathematics;
- c. industrial engineering;
- d. business informatics; or
- e. business psychology.
In addition, the Examination Board can also verify the relevancy of an undergraduate degree in political science or the social sciences or that was interdisciplinary if it has a demonstrable economic or business focus. The legally valid assessment of international applicants’ diplomas is done by Uni-Assist.
A further prerequisite for our study program is a valid proof of English language proficiency of B2 level according to the CEFR (accepted tests are TOEFL or IELTS) and a cumGPA (Bachelor’s degree) of 2,5. All foreign applicants have to provide us with a TOEFL or IELTS. The language certificate must be valid at the date of application. A proficiency letter will not be accepted. Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, with its two campus locations in Kleve and Kamp-Lintfort, is a university that is both deeply rooted in the Lower Rhine and connected to the world.
