According to the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic
of Belarus foreign citizens irrespective of their race nationality, sex,
language, religion may be admitted to higher schools of the Republic of
Belarus. curricula and syllabi for foreign students are the same as for
students from the Republic of Belarus. After the successful graduation
from the higher school foreign citizens receive standard diploma. The
training of foreign students is exercised on the paid contractual basis.
Foreign citizens may be admitted to higher schools of the Republic of
Belarus if they have got education corresponding to the complete
secondary education in Belarus. There are no age restrictions. Those
persons who have obtained Bachelor degree may be admitted to higher
schools of the Republic of Belarus to take their Master¦s degree. To be
admitted to higher schools of the Republic of Belarus the submission of
following documents is required:
1) notarially attested copy of certificate of education containing the list of the subjects studied and the examination marks received in them; 2) certificate of health attested by the official Health Service authorities of that country which send the applicant for study in the Republic of Belarus; 3) notarially attested copy of his (her) birth-certificate; 4) six photographs (4x6cm); 5) application filled in standard form in duplicate. All the documents should be submitted not later than 2.5 months before the beginning of the studies at the higher school. They may be in Belarussian, Russian, English. French or Spanish. Applicants also should possess valid passport or substituting it document and entry visa granted in accordance with established procedure. Language required is Russian. |

Vitebsk State Medical University was founded in 1934. At present it has 5 faculties : the medical-preventive faculty, the pharmaceutical faculty, the faculty for up-dating specialists, the faculty for training specialists for foreign countries, the pre-University training faculty. Vitebsk State Medical University trains specialists in two specialties: "doctor" and "pharmaceutist" and for foreign countries - "doctor of medicine" and "master of pharmacy." Graduates are trained in 39 specialties including residency in 22, post-graduate course in 23 and course for a doctor' s degree in 15 specialties. There are 50 departments at the University. The University possesses faculties appropriate for training specialists at a higher school. The University is a large scientific center: 55 doctors and 204 candidates of science work in it. The main directions of its research activities are: transplantation of tissue and organs , cardiovascular diseases, immune-deficient conditions, role of hereditary factors in the development of parasitogenic process, diseases of abdominal organs, arterial hypertension and the principles of its prevention, infections in surgery, development of minor invasive surgical methods, brain injury, development of technologies of new medicine preparations. In Institute there are special departmental resources like computer facilities, Internet, library, student scientific-research society, sport complex, medical subdivision, student cafe, etc. The medical-preventive faculty was founded in 1934. The course of training lasts for 6 years. This faculty trains general practitioners. The instruction is given by lectures, seminars, group instruction and practical work. At the end of the 6th course the students pass the final state examinations. After the graduation from the University young doctors have internship and work in their specialty under the supervision of experienced specialists. After that doctors pass an examination to get the right to practice medicine independently and receive certificates of a specialist and start their work. Pharmaceutical faculty was founded in 1959. The course of training lasts 5 years - full-time tuition and 5,5 years - tuition by correspondence. Annually, beginning with the 5th year of their study the students also have practical course, at the end of which they pass their final state examinations. Those who have passed them successfully get their diploma: pharmaceutist (students from Belarus) and master of pharmacy (foreign students). Graduates may work at any pharmaceutical enterprises and firms, chemist¦s store-houses, analytical and biochemical laboratories, laboratories for forensic medical examination, pharmaceutical governing bodies, etc. The faculty for up-dating specialists was founded in 1994. Its main task is to raise the level of professional skill of those specialists in pharmacy and in medicine who have graduated from the higher school and work in different pharmaceutical and medical institutions of Belarussian Ministry of Public Health. The instruction is given by lectures, seminars, group instruction, practical work. The specialists can acquaint themselves with modern apparatus and up-to-date methods of diagnostics, treatment, analysis, etc. Specialists from other town are given hostels accommodations and can use the Institute library, reading-rooms, sport gymnasium and get medical aid at the medical subdivision of the Institute. The faculty for training specialists for foreign countries began in 1981.There is a department for pre-Institute training for foreign students. During this period the Institute has trained many doctors for 97 countries of Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Near and the Middle East. 637 graduates got the qualifications +doctor of medicine- , 46 - +master of pharmacy-, 80 persons studied in residency and at the post-graduate course in 14 specialties, 12 persons defended their theses for a candidate¦s degree. At present 430 foreign citizens study at the Institute. All of them live in a comfortable international hostel.. Foreign students have 11 large associations of countrymen and the association oraduates. In the field of education and scientific exchange Vitebsk State Medical University cooperates with higher school in Nepal, India, the Lebanon, Poland, Germany, the USA, etc. The faculty for pre-University training. This faculty functions with the purpose of professional orientation of the youth and improvement of the general education level necessary to be admitted to the Institute. The faculty consists of the preparatory department and the department of professional orientation. The form of tuition are full- time, part-time and by correspondence.. For the full-time tuition the citizens of the Republic of Belarus, the citizens of Russia, Belarussians from abroad, having complete secondary education, are admitted . For part-time tuition, and tuition by correspondence the Institute admits also pupils attending final forms of secondary schools and secondary educational institutions. To be admitted for the full-time and part-time tuition the applicants should be interviewed, for the tuition by correspondence they should present all necessary documents. The Institute decides the number of the students to be admitted. The full -time and part-time tuition lasts for 8 months, the tuition by correspondence lasts for 8,5 months. The tuition at the preparatory department is charged. The curriculum includes those subjects in which the students take entrance exams at the end of their study. At the preparatory department students take entrance examinations on a universal bases. |
