Course Description

The World Trade Institute (based in Bern, Switzerland) is currently accepting applications for its masters program (the Master in International Law and Economics or MILE) as well as for its summer program.

Both programs focus on the law and economics of international trade policy and bring in the leading professors from around the world (the WTO, UN, IMF, leading law and consulting firms, as well as from top universities in the US, Europe and Asia) to teach our international student body. For our masters program, we typically accept about 35 students each year who represent more than 20 countries and the coursework covers 34 weeks examining a different trade-related topic each week. Most weeks are taught both by a lawyer and an economist to give an interdisciplinary perspective on the particular subject and after the academic year, students must write a substantial thesis. Of course, for exceptional candidates, we do offer scholarships and all classes are taught entirely in English.

Upon graduation, many of our students tend to work for the WTO, World Bank, law firms, consulting firms and NGOs.
