An Overview of The Malopolska School of Economics
Malopolska School of Economics ( MWSE ) was founded on 18 July 1995. It was the first institution offering higher education in Economics, Business, Marketing, Management and Accounting in the south of Poland ( Malopolska ). The MWSE is an independent, non-public and non- profit organisation established by The Polish Economics Society in Cracow. The School's founders and most of its professors and academic staff come from Academy of Economics in Cracow.
The students enjoy the climate of innovation and development in many areas. The School recognises and fulfils local and international needs of the market. The Bachelor's level programmes offer high quality professional training in areas that are important for Poland's economy in transition and the need for fully qualified managers. The students are prepared for the careers in Business , Economics , Administration and Local Government administration. They are taught to analyse, think critically, examine and evaluate economic issues and apply them to decision making in practical business and social situations. Next to the rigorous theoretical preparation the students have to take some applied tutorials run not only by professional academic staff , but also by specialists well recognised by business and industry leaders. They also spend four weeks in private or public organisations such as banks , firms , local governments , etc., having holiday professional training.
Malopolska School of Economics is fully approved and recognised by The Ministry of National Education and offered courses are transferable to other government approved colleges and universities , and hence the high standards must be maintained. The students can continue their education and move to universities to get their Master's degree.
Malopolska School of Economics prides itself upon highly qualified academic staff. It employs 162 academic lecturers and teachers with 16 professors, 39 lecturers with habilitated doctoral degree and 15 with doctoral degree. All of them carry themselves and supervise research programmes, run lectures, seminars, publish scientific works, expert's reports, articles and papers.
Malopolska School of Economics organises conferences and seminars inviting many prominent scientists, politicians and economists from the whole country. The Centre for the Development of Managers , among other activities , prepares expert's reports and organises training course for professional people , meeting the regional needs of market. The School co-operates also with many foreign academic centres, especially with Buckland University College in Oxford. Some lectures are run in English.
The Division of Foreign Language Teaching offers to the full-time students 5 terms of 2 foreign languages ( 600 hours altogether ) and 5 terms of one chosen foreign language to the part-time students ( 100 hours ). The courses comprise both general and business language programmes , which are adjusted to the specific needs of individual students. The students are prepared to take London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Exams ( LCCI ) and Goethe Institute exams.
Malopolska School of Economics is a modern institution matching the standards of western colleges. It offers many facilities to its students. They have a free access to a computer network , Internet , library , sports and recreational facilities , such as a swimming pool or gym .As members of Academic Sports Association they take part in sports competitions and championships . The Students' Government is involved in decision making processes concerning not only social and cultural issues , but also syllabus and study regulations.
