The concentration of uridine in blood plasma and hyperuricemia in primary hypertension

Smooth muscles of blood vessels are characterised by proportionally high level of UTP compared with ATP. If hypoxanthine is considered as a marker of degradation of ATP for skeletal muscles, similarly uridine may be a marker of degradation of UTP in conditions of high vasoconstriction. Moreower, it is known, that uridine nucleotides act as vasoconstrictots. the concentration of uric acid, hypoxanthine, xanthine and uridine in plasma was detrermined using the HPLC method. Significant differences in concentrations of uric acid and hypoxanthine in plasma in hypertension as compared with control in which these concentrations were lower. The concentration of uridine in hypertension was lower than in control. The dependence between uridine and insulin was found only in the hypertension. In conclusion: The plasma level of uridine is not a marker of hyperuricemia in essential hypertension. Hiperinsulinemia in hypertension is associated with disturbances in metabolism of purines and pyrimidines.

    Fr.Banaszak;
The metabolism of purine and pyrimidine nucleotides in essential hypertension. The assessment of the influence of antihypertensive drugs.

The mechanism of hyperuricemia in essential hypertension is explained as a result of the influence of the diminished renal excretion of uric acid. There are, however, a lot of data supporting the metabolic theory of higher level of uric acid in serum of people with essential hypertension. The separate issue is the information about the link between purine and pyrimidine metabolism especially with the view of the evaluated role of pyrimidine nucleotides as vasoconstrictors. Eighty patients aged 45,1 ±15,1 with mild or moderate essential hypertension were studied. They were treated with one antihypertensive drugs for 3 to 6 month. The obtained relationships between concentrations of metabolites suggest that hyperuricemia in hypertension is not only a result of decreased renal secretion of uric acid, but also the effect of the change in purine and pyrimidine metabolism which shows a link with hiperinsulin.

Social conditions of the development of tourism and recreation in the regions.

The instance of going in for tourism and recreation is connected with coming into contact with the visited social environment. Such an environment can significantly determine the development of tourism and recreation in a given area, depending on what values, norms and patterns exist in the community. The analysis of the inhabitans''attitudes towards tourism and recreation lets us determine the chances of the development in a given region.

Differences in the profile of unfused tetani of fast motor units with respect to their resistance to fatigue in the rat medial gastrocnemius muscle.

The profile of fast motor unit unfused tetani was analysed. The tetanus shape index calculated for one short-lasting tetanus was introduced. This index enable high-accuracy classification of fast units as fatigable or resistant without a long fatigue test. This obserbation offers new experimental possibilities.

Maternal risk factors and human development regularity in prenatal period

The material which was the base of the research was about 4 thousands stillborn fetuses in the period of 20 to 42 week of fetal life, without any genetic defects, without any visible developmental imperfections with an indeterminate reason of decease. In the lack of visible death reasons the influence of risk factors was investigated to determine if they could be the death reason of studied material or their activity caused disturbances braking (retarding) the fetal development. In the annex to this work model centile networks are included constructed for the each, studied feature.

The influence of changes in the stimulation pattern on force and fusion in motor units of the rat medial gastrocnemius muscle.

The effects of decreasing and increasing only one interpulse interval during unfused tetani on the tension produced by motor units was studied. The fast and slow units have different sensibility to these changes in stimulation pattern and significance of this observation for physiology of different types of units is discussed.

Complementary characteristics of information from muscle receptors and the significance of presynaptic infigition on the adaptation of muscle activity to changing conditions of movement.

The significance of presynaptic infibition of Ia afferents evoked by homolateral Ia and Ib afferents as well as flexor reflex afferents is described and discussed. The authors suggest that the presynaptic input from receptors in non-standard conditions may change the nervous code that reaches motoneurones monosynaptically and modify the performance of movements.

Fitness preparations among young basketball players as the basis for optimisation of practice at the stage of guided training.

The aim of the present researches is to determine the lebel and structure of the fitness preparation of young basketball players against the background of somatic typology and environmental diversity. Conclusions: 1) The fitness diversity of both practicing and non-practicing boys could have, apart from stimulation in training, the basis in somatic typology. 2) In the subjected group of basketball players one observed differences in the structure of physical fitness due to the place of residence (the degree of urban development). 3) The internal diversity of fitness structure in the group of basketball players, at the lack of significant differences in body structure, might be also caused by the application of different training strains.

Physical Education in the reform of the educational system - a record of the most important problems.

The work describes physical education against the background of general transformations of civilisation and transformations in the system of school education. In connection with the reform of the educational system it is important to answer the two fundamental questions: 1) what we expect from physical education and how it should support and steer one's development, 2) how the present model of physical education is realised, what does not satisfy and should be changed. The author characterised the current state of physical education in Polish schools and gave a detailed description of main trends of essential changes. Concluding, the author states: 1) without good, well-intentioned and skilfully run physical education the realisation of modern reforms of the educational system would be totally impossible, 2) the action of bringing about the reform of the educational system should not be reduced to preparation and enforcement even of the best legal acts. The reform is a long-term process which in future will influence all aspects of life of the society.

Effects of Three-day Bed Rest on Physiological Responses to Graded Exercise in Endurance Athletes, Body Builders and Sedentary Men

The aim of this study was to examine whether the level and kind of physical activity preceding 3-day bed rest (BR) affects circulatory, metabolic, thermoregulatory and hormonal responses to exercise. It is concluded that after only 3 days of bed rest, the work tolerance, aerobic capacity and anaerobic threshold are diminished, particularly in endurance trained men. This short-term bed rest increases resting PRA and modifies hormonal responses to graded exercise, namely: accentuates PRA elevation, causes an earlier increase in plasma noradrenaline, and attenuates the increase in plasma hGH. These hormonal changes are most pronounced in endurance trained subjects. The 3 day bed rest does not impair ixercise thermoregulation.

The profile of physical fitness in the national field hockey team.

The work analyses the relationships between the sports value of a player in his team and the level develoment of basic fitness abilities. The researchers assumed that the value of a player in his team was determined by those features of fitness which are the basis of technical and tactical abilities influencing the effectiveness of the player's performance. The system of relations in speed endurance, which presiously had not been examined in this respect, proved to be interesting. The speed endurance seems to be the dominant feature of a field hockey player.

Variability of metabolic and hormonal responses to exercise of increased intensity in young athletes.
The study was aimed to test the stability vs variability of metabolic and hormonal responses in exercise. alterations in the circulating lebels of sex hormones (testosterone, progesterone, lutropin, follitropin, prolactin and estradiol) varied between the subjects and were insignificant. The obtained results indicate that exercise with increasing intensity produces diverse hormonal responses in adolescents athletes.
