The course aims to enhance the students career in international agri-business by giving a clear understanding of the principles and recent developments in the practice of management. Students will be prepared to make greater contribution to the management of their existing organisation and be capable of developing a successful and satisfying career elsewhere. MBA in Agri-business Management is presented at an executive level on a part-time basis to graduates with the Msc or Bsc diploma. The studies are programmed for 4 semesters. The whole MBA course may be completed within the range 2-5 years. Two core courses, each made-up of five modules, are taught in a semester. Lecturing is provided in both, the Polish and English languages. Length of programme: 2 years (4 semesters) Major fields of study: Management, Marketing, Operational Methods, Finance, Economics, International Agribusiness Cost: 3200 PLN/semester Admission requirement: : MSc or BSc diploma, English language proficiency Date of enrolment: October/February Student accommodation: student’s dormitory Class size: 15-25 persons Warsaw Agricultural University (SGGW) is the oldest and largest agricultural academic school in Poland. The idea of establishing higher agricultural education in Poland emerged at the end of the 18th century and received the support of King Stanislaw Poniatowski. The idea was realised at the time of the Congressional Kingdom, establishing, on 23 September 1816, the Institute of Agronomy in Marymont. The first director of the Institute was Jerzy Beniamin Flatt, one of the best experts on economic relations in the Congressional Kingdom. The studies at the Institute were conducted on two levels: elementary - for future qualified workers and upper - for future economists and administrators, as well as sons of landowners. Simultaneously with the establishment of Marymont Institute, other higher agricultural schools were formed, which later constituted today’s Warsaw Agricultural University. And so within the frame of the Institute of Agronomy, the Government Institute of Veterinary Medicine was formed, and then in 1840, the Institute of Agronomy was transformed into the Institute of Agriculture and Forestry. During those years, the school's fortune was changing. Russianized by the Czar's government, it was closed for some time and in 1869 it was moved to Pulawy. The result of the numerous transformations was, that in 1918 it became the Polish Royal Main School of Agriculture. In 1919 the School became nationalized and named Warsaw Agricultural University - SGGW. In the beginning it consisted of two faculties: Agriculture and Forestry and 1921 Faculty of Horticulture was formed. In 1952 the fourth faculty was added to SGGW – the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and afterwards more faculties were founded. Among the professors of SGGW there were many prominent people well known in Europe: Józef Mikulowski-Pomorski, the first Rector of SGGW, Wladyslaw Grabski - creator of the Polish currency – zloty, Zdzislaw Ludkiewicz - the founder of the Bank of Agriculture and many other. During the Second World War the University conducted underground teaching sessions and in 1945 it revived its academic activities. Among Honoris Causa Doctors of SGGW there are such celebrities as (1936) Ignacy Mościcki, President of the II Republic of Poland, (1978) dr Edouardo Saouma, Director General of Fao, (1985) prof. Jacques Poly, Director General of INRA, (1991) Cardinal Józef Glemp, the Primate of Poland, (1993) Norman Borlaug, the Nobel Prize winner, (1998) Peter C. Doherty and Rolf. M. Zinkefrnagel, Nobel Prize winners, (2002) the Pope, John Paul II. Senate is the highest legislative and consultative body of the University. It includes 48 members. The constitution of SGGW resolved by the Senate is the act regulating legal functioning of the school. The academic school authorities are: the Rector, three Vice-Rectors, Deans, Vice-Deans and Administrative Director. Currently the main part of the academic life concentrates in Ursynów. The didactic and scientific activities of the University are run by the faculties and interfaculty units. The University has also the Department of Foreign Languages, Department of Physical Education, the Main Library, the Computer Centre, the Laboratory for Physical and Chemical Analysis, the Laboratory for Electron Microscopy. In the last years Warsaw Agricultural University made a lot of investment into new universites buildings at Ursynów Campus. The new buildings for the Faculty of Human Nutrition and Consumer Sciences, Faculty of Food Technology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine with a very modern clinic and Faculty of Animal Science have been already built. All of them are equiped with very modern laboratories, computers and necessary equipment. In the construction are presently buildings for the Faculty of Forestry, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Wood Technology and others. It has been planned to locate all faculties at Ursynów campus finallly. Modern sport facilities for students like a swimming pool, tennis courts, sport hall and others have been already finished. Warsaw Agricultural University has 3159 places for students at students dormitories. The new very big and modern dormitory is in the construction and will be ready in the next academic year. We have also new equiped modern library for students and modern conference rooms. The student scientific and cultural activity is manifested by student self-government, student research groups, the Academic Chours and Artistic Folklore Group “Promni”. Tourism fans have their association - the Academic Tourist Club and the Student Mountain Climbing Club. International Co-operation of Warsaw Agricultural University SGGW develops an intensive co-operation with numerous foreign institutions.
