This Master’ degree programme offers you the chance to obtain an excellent advanced qualification in the fields of pharmacoeconomics and health economics, health products and market access. What you learn with us

The Master’s degree programme is split into two semesters of theory, one practical semester including 12 weeks residency placement in Germany or abroad and one semester for your thesis. The main focus of the programme is to provide specific pharmacoeconomic, methodical and strategic knowledge for international health markets. Familiarise yourself with the possibilities of market access, pricing and reimbursement for pharmaceutical and technical health products in major international health systems and markets and develop methodical and economic skills to analyse, evaluate and implement strategic developments of healthcare products.

Admission requirements

To apply for the Master of Science in International Pharmacoeconomics, Health Economics & Market Strategies for Healthcare Products at the Hochschule Fresenius University of Applied Sciences you should possess:
  • a Bachelor degree or equivalent with at least 180 ECTS credit points in one of the following fields: health economics, pharmacy, chemistry, biology or medical device or medical engineering.
  • if your undergraduate degree is not in the field of health or pharmaceutical sciences, you must provide proof that you have gained at least 6 months occupational experience in the pharmaceutical or health sectors.
  • proof of English language skills by means of an online-based TOEFL test with at least 90 points or above with the following minimum sub scores - reading 18, listening 17, speaking 20 and writing 17 or an IELTS certificate with at least 6.5 points with sub score of at least 5.5 in all areas.

Application Process

Please be aware that the application process deadline for non-European citizens ends on 31st May! Non-EU degrees will be proofed by uni-assist (Service Center for International University Applications). Uni assist will make a statement about the equivalency of your studies and degrees to the German system.

From its main campus in Idstein near Wiesbaden, the Hochschule Fresenius University of Applied Sciences can look back on more than 165 years of tradition in science teaching. In 1848 Carl Remigius Fresenius founded the Fresenius Chemical Laboratory, which has devoted itself from the very beginning to practical laboratory work as well as education. Certification as a privately funded, state-approved university of applied sciences followed in 1971.

Today, the university offers full-time and part-time Bachelor's and Master’s degrees as well as vocational training and further education at its headquarters in Idstein and its campuses in Cologne, Hamburg, Munich, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Berlin, and New York. Founded in 1848 by Carl Remigius Fresenius, and with its roots in the Fresenius Chemical Laboratory, the Hochschule Fresenius University of Applied Sciences is the oldest educational chemistry institute of its kind. True to the intent of its founder, it combines teaching, research, and practical application. The name Fresenius stands for practically oriented teaching closely linked to applied research and development. This holds true for the traditional faculty Chemistry & Biology, the faculties Health & Social , Economics & Media, Design as well as the new faculty onlineplus which focuses on distance learning.
