The ESMT MBA

General management and leadership focus

Having its origins in executive education, ESMT launched its international one-year Full-time MBA program in Berlin in 2006. ESMT is accredited as a private institution of higher education by FIBAA

The ESMT MBA program content emphasizes outstanding mastery of the skills of general management as well as a holistic approach to leadership. When speaking about leaders, we think of entrepreneurs who shape the business of tomorrow today and are able to change an organization successfully, who have a cross-functional and cross–cultural view, who are people-oriented and stand for responsible management.

Curriculum

The ESMT MBA program is composed of two main phases.

During the first phase, Mastering Management, participants obtain a solid foundation in the fundamentals of management, which are explored in all dimensions. This phase includes courses on such as interpersonal competencies, accounting, finance, marketing, human resources management, operations, economics, and organization design.

During phase two, Taking the Lead, participants build upon this and develop the ability to make a difference – through innovation, entrepreneurship and change management. They learn how to develop strategies, and above all, how to bring strategies into life.

The whole program is divided into modules. At the end of each module, participants do and defend a presentation in front of the module faculty, who evaluate the leadership capabilities demonstrated. The purpose of these Integrative Leadership Exercises is to give participants opportunities to explore and learn about leadership issues.

Participants work also on an assignment, called Practice Project, submitted by one of the partner organizations of ESMT, with the goal of proposing applicable recommendations to its management.

The practice project is also the background to the Master Thesis, which every participant writes and defends in front of ESMT faculty.

In the Field Projects, participants discover selected countries such as China and India, which are expected to play an essential role in the future business world.
