Our MBA program requires the completion of 23 courses. However, up to 9 of these courses are electives that students can choose from 11 areas of specialization that we offer. These areas include accounting, corporate environmental management, entrepreneurial management, finance, general management, human resources management/organizational behavior, international management, management information systems, management science, marketing and production and operations management. Most of our students split their 9 electives over two or more areas. An MBA thesis is optional in our program. There is one prerequisite which can be completed in the first two quarters of the program after the student is admitted. 1. The Department The A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management emphasizes personal interaction among faculty and graduate students in its classes and advising. The School is small enough in size to provide individual attention to students and to individualize course selections toward student career interests. Most electives in the field of a student's concentration are seminar size and encourage participatory learning. The MBA stresses both the "art and science" of management. The science of management recognizes the importance of analytical and quantitative skills. The art of management recognizes that solutions to management problems are made in diverse settings under varying dynamic conditions. The A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management utilizes communication, integrates functional areas and incorporates the latest technology in order to prepare successful MBA graduates. 2. The Institution The University of California - Riverside campus has a total enrollment of nearly 16,000 students and is the fastest growing of the 10 University of California campuses. The 1,200 acre campus was founded in 1954 and is located in the Southern Region of California about 60 miles East of the city of Los Angeles and about 90 miles to the North of the city of San Diego. The climate in Riverside is mild all year round. The city and campus are conveniently located within a 1 hour drive of the Big Bear Mountains to the North, the Desert city of Palm Springs to the east and the Ocean Beaches of Los Angeles and Orange County to the West. The city of Riverside has a population of nearly 260,000 and is also one of the fastest growing economic centers in Southern California today. |
