Special features of the University determining its top position in the system of Higher education of Russia, are:
Standards for the advanced centers of the world higher school, a wide combination of faculties - from humanitarian, social and natural - scientific up to medical, ecological, agricultural and applied engineering, - almost of all scale of the specialties representing an unlimited choice for those willing to receive modern and quality degree education, involving into educational process a wide circle of the scientists and the experts in various areas of human activity;

Scientific research
The PFUR is a large center of science where multipurpose researches are being conducted. For the last 3 years 710 monographs, 275 textbooks and 490 manuals have been published at the University.
More than 500 employees of the University are the registered as inventors and rationalizers. The intellectual fund of PFUR is made with the descriptions of the inventions of more than 870 copyright certificates and of 150 patents of Russian Federation practically on all directions of scientific activity of the University.
The University participates in performance of scientific research and design works on priority scientific directions on the orders of the Russian and foreign companies.
The research work involves professors and teachers of the University, personnel of the faculties, post-graduate students, trainees and other students.
It is necessary to note, that the presence in PFUR of the large number of faculties, departments, specialties of a various direction enables to carry out joint and complex scientific researches both of the applied and fundamental character.

Students are streamed into three groups: technical, natural sciences and humanities as a result mastering the language well enough to continue studying at corresponding faculties. Students study the literary Russian and its scientific style of the chosen field as well.
The curriculum of the faculty envisages 720-980 hours of the Russian language. Material is chosen according to aims and tasks of teaching the language and communicative needs of foreign students. On graduating students are admitted to one of the main faculties according to the chosen specialization.

For the years of its activity the Faculty has created a highly qualified staff, experienced in science and pedagogic work in different countries and regions including tropical and sub-tropical zones of the world.
Academic staff includes 18 professors and D.Sc. holders and 50 associated professors Ph.D. holders. The graduates of the Faculty display a high level of professionalism and a good knowledge of foreign languages that gives the a priority employment to top ranking positions. A number of the graduates have been involved in diplomatic service (agric experts), some of them work as experts in WTO Geneva, Moscow municipal, others are the heads of administrations of russian regional councils. Many of russian graduates are performing as a brilliant teachers, general director and managers of international companies operating in this country. The Faculty has a developed material base of teaching laboratories, equipment, computer classes with internet access, herbarium with 25.000 units. Training Programmes:
Bachelor’s degree programme: “Linguistics” (with English as the main foreign language, the second foreign language is optional: it can either be German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Chinese), Psychological and Pedagogical Education.
Master’s degree programme:
“Theory of Communication and International Public Relations”.
The Institute has introduced a unique Educational Programme concerning absolutely all students of all Schools and Specializations Programmes within the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia: interpreter in the field of professional activities. The Programme comprises one year of intensive training in foreign languages and educational disciplines and goes on during the four subsequent years of students’ studies at the University. On graduation students get a diploma of interpreter of PFUR. The Programme is a joint product of the PFUR Institute of Foreign Languages and of all its Schools realized on a permanent basis.

Theory of Communication (Intercultural Communication; Text Linguistics; Speech Etiquette; Linguistics and New Information Technologies; Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages; Psychological and Pedagogical Optimization of the Process of Teaching Foreign Languages); Social Pedagogics as Social Management.

More than 50 Entities of Practical training including but not limited to: Moscow secondary schools, Centers of social and moral help to children and elderly persons; Russian and foreign (based in Western Europe, USA and Africa) companies and agencies, banks.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The University enrolls students on contract (fee payment) basis and on the scholarship basis as well. The candidate (applicant) should submit the following particulars:
application form for admission indicating the course chosen;
a letter of Sponsor undertaking
copy of Secondary School Certificate (GCE) duly certified;
certified copy of Birth Certificate;
medical certificate with tests results (including HIV);
curriculum vitae;
passport copy (main page)

Applications for admission are accepted from May 1 till August 15. The academic year starts on September 01. Candidates approved for admission should send by e-mail the copy of the passport and address of living in the country of residence that is required for entry visa procedure. Visa support to the accepted candidates is made through the corresponding Embassy (Consulate) of Russian Federation. The accepted Students should report to the University between August 20 and October 01 to be admitted to the Preparatory Faculty for one year to study Russian language and to upgrade the basic subjects of chosen major. Those who arrived later after November 15 will be enrolled to study an extended Preparatory course for 1,5 year – for 3-semester program (fees to be paid for 3 semester).
Foreign citizens admitted to the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia have to sign an Individual Study Contract with the University stipulating the cost of tuition. Students are provided with medical care at the University’s Medical Center, that costs $ 250 per year on the basis of Medical Insurance policy. Hostel accommodation is offered according to comfort categories and should be paid on a special tariff. Undergraduate students' registration (processing) fee rate is $ 150 covering contract registration, consultancy, correspondence and admission procedure costs.
The University's Fees (including tuition, accommodation, medical service) to be paid annually before September 15. Late payment of the fees will cause an inconvenience penalty (fine).
The tuition fee will be reduced by 20 % for the current semester for students, who get only excellent results during the last 4 examination sessions (excluding the Preliminary course examinations). The reduction will be cancelled with the changing of academic performance.
Transport expenses to Moscow and back home after graduation to be covered by students or their sponsors.
Tuition Fee Rates and accommodation cost tariff are in $ USD (see below). Payment of fees can be made directly by transfer through University's bank accounts.
Addition information:
All documents of education must be legalized by the Consular section of the Russian Embassy in your country.
IMPORTANT: Due to requirements established by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, all foreign students willing to continue their studies in Russian Universities (including Peoples’ Friendship University) for the purpose of further education must pass through the recognition (Nostrification) procedures and to confirm the equivalence of the foreign education documents.
Definition: Recognition of foreign higher education document is a procedure which grants the document holder the right to continue education.
Nostrification is required:
- for admission to undergraduate courses if the applicant received Higher Secondary Education document in schools outside of the Russian Federation;
- for admission to postgraduate and additional education courses (internship, clinical, PhD, Grand PhD) if the applicant received Higher Professional Education Diploma outside of the Russian Federation.
Documents required for the recognition (nistrification) procedure:
1. Application for recognition of the foreign qualifications in the Russian language.
2. Copy of the ID document (passport or other document if there is no passport system in the applicant's country of citizenship) of the applicant and/or the holder of the document, if necessary with the notarized translation into Russian.
3. Original of the duly legalized (if necessary) document of education.
4. Original of the duly legalized (if necessary) diploma supplement, if foreseen by the legislation of the issuing country, with the list of all study courses and disciplines (modules) and their volumes as well as other constituencies of the study process.
5. Copies of the document of education (original and transcript) with notarized translation into Russian (if necessary). Translations should be issued in the same name, first name and father name (if relevant) as written in the entrance visa or the registration in the Russian Federation.

POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES
The University offers 129 courses (specializations) in different levels: full-time, internship and refresher training:
Full-time postgraduate courses (Ph.D and D.Sc) (3 – 4 years, $1750 to $5350 per annum.)
Medical\clinical residency course (2 – 5 years, $3250-$5900 per annum)
Advanced\refresher course (0,5 – 2 years, $350 -$550 per month)
Short-term upgrade course (1 month – 1 year, $450 -$550 per month)
Within the period of postgraduate studies a student has to fulfill an individual plan under the guidance of a scientific supervisor who is a highly qualified professional - Doctor of Science, professor, a Ph.D holder or associate professor. Successful postgraduates are awarded with State Degree papers and relevant professional certificates.
