Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure are fast growing industries with exciting careers opportunities. Established in 1948 The London School of Tourism, Hospitality & Leisure at Thames Valley University, based in Ealing West London, has an international reputation for excellence as a training provider in this sector. We are a Centre of Excellence for Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism courses and are acknowledged by Government agencies and Industry.
All our programmes provide a broad education that will improve your prospects on whichever career path you wish to follow. Many are also professionally related and provide an entry point into specific employment sectors. As well as developing skills which employers value, many undergraduate courses also offer you the opportunity to undertake a work placement. This enables you to spend up to a year working in an organisation closely linked to your degree.
Our modular structure provides flexible education. Your major subject can be combined with a range of options, enabling you to tailor your study to fit your own aspirations or lifestyle. At the same time, you can be assured that your period of study will be valued externally.
Ealing is an ideal location for Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism training; it is 20 minutes traveling time from the centre of London and 20 minutes from Heathrow
Thames Valley University supports mass participation in higher education as a contribution to equality and social justice, The University aims to become a student-driven institution, committed primarily to teaching and learning and playing a major part in the educational, cultural and economic life of the region. It will support these policies by developing and sustaining partnerships with other organisations and providers in the public, private and voluntary sectors.
You will need at least £8000 per annum to live in the London area. This would cover accommodation, food, transport and other necessities of student life. Couples will need £12,000 and people with children will need to budget to pay for them.
We strongly advise you to talk to your local British Council for more information about living expenses in the UK.
The Overseas Student Scholarship Scheme
TVU recognizes the burden that the overseas tuition fee places on some students. The Board of Governors has agreed that the Overseas Student Scholarship Committee may distribute a number of major and minor awards. Scholarships are awarded annually in May of each year for the following academic year. To be eligible you must be enrolled at Thames Valley University on any programme, except in the final year of a full-time programme, and be required to pay overseas tuition fees.
The Scholarship Committee will consider applicants firstly in terms of academic performance and secondly on financial need. In view of the small number of such scholarships available, only those students who can demonstrate real hardship are advised to apply.
You can get an application form from Student Services and return it by 1 May for the following academic year. Late applications are not normally considered.
