About Cologne University of Applied Sciences – Institute for Technology and Resources Management in the Tropics and Subtropics

The changing conditions of a globalized world require flexibility and high quality in both teaching and research in higher education. The expansion of international scientific-technical cooperation is the appropriate answer to this challenge.

The Institute for Technology and Resources Management in the Tropics and Subtropics (ITT) promotes this process by providing instruction, research and technology transfer services. The ITT sees itself as an interdisciplinary, intercultural and international interface with the goal of enabling people of varying technical and cultural backgrounds the capacity for wide ranging cooperation and to promote cooperation at the university and post-graduate level. Via interdisciplinary courses and applied research in cooperation with partners in both Germany and throughout the world the ITT meets these goals.

The ITT is part of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences (CUAS). With approximately 18,000 students in over 45 disciplines taught by 450 professors, Cologne University of Applied Sciences is the largest of its kind in Germany.

The University consists of ten faculties, which comprise various institutes. They form the basic organisational units of the university and are directed by a faculty council and dean or a dean's office. The faculties currently offer a total of 50 courses. The University has three campuses on 3 different locations in the city of Cologne: The Engineering Sciences Centre in Cologne-Deutz, the Humanities Centre in the south of Cologne, and the Informatics and Engineering Campus in Gummersbach.

Alongside its diversified and high-quality course offerings and research projects Cologne University of Applied Sciences is a popular co-operation partner both inside and outside Germany and has close ties with various domestic and international universities.
